Discounts and Point Accrual When Paying with EasyCard at Taipei Convenience Stores and Supermarkets

Paying with an EasyCard (悠遊卡) at a Taipei convenience store does not automatically mean you get a discount or earn points at every chain. 7-ELEVEN's OPEN POINT program raises the accrual rate to 0.5% only when you pay the full amount of a single transaction with icash2.0, OPEN Wallet (OPEN錢包), or icash Pay, and EasyCard is not on that list. FamilyMart (全家), on the other hand, credits Fa Points every time you pay with your EasyCard, as long as you have already linked the card to your member account.

Even though both cases involve the same action of "paying with an EasyCard," the conditions move in opposite directions depending on the chain, so it is worth finding out in advance which situation applies before your trip.

7-ELEVEN: EasyCard Is Not on the List for a Higher Point Rate

7-ELEVEN's OPEN POINT system requires you to show your member barcode or give your phone number before payment in order to earn points. Under this setup, paying in cash earns 0.33%, while paying the full amount of a single transaction with icash2.0, OPEN Wallet, or icash Pay raises that rate to 0.5%.

EasyCard is not included on this list of payment methods eligible for the higher rate. Even if you have identified yourself as a member via barcode or phone number, simply using an EasyCard as the payment method does not qualify you for the 0.5% tier. You can check the exact rates in the OPEN POINT accrual rate guide.

FamilyMart: Link Your Account and Card, and Points Accrue Automatically on Payment

FamilyMart (全家) does not separate payment method from membership. If you link (bind) your EasyCard to your FamilyMart member account through a FamiPort kiosk, the FamilyMart website, the FamilyMart app, or an in-store counter, Fa Points will automatically accrue every time you pay with that card afterward.

You can link up to 10 EasyCards to a single member account, and you can manage or delete registered cards through FamiPort or the app. The linking procedure is explained in the FamilyMart EasyCard linking guide.

Accrual Rate and Expiration

Here are the conditions for points earned when paying at FamilyMart with a linked EasyCard.

ItemDetails
Accrual rateAccording to the purchase point accrual guide, you earn 1 point per NT$1 spent, excluding tobacco products and certain bill payment/agency services
Point expirationAccording to the member FAQ, points earned in a given year can be used until March 31 of the following year, after which they expire
Collection card validityA physical collection card becomes invalid if no points are accrued on it for 6 months after activation

Rules Differ by Chain, So Check Before You Pay

Using an EasyCard for payment does not automatically trigger point accrual at every chain. FamilyMart only credits points if you have linked your card to your account beforehand, while 7-ELEVEN excludes EasyCard itself from its higher accrual rate regardless of whether it is linked to anything.

The combined payment terminals at PX Mart (全联) and Carrefour (家乐福) also accept EasyCard payments alongside credit cards and iPASS (一卡通). According to the summary of electronic payment methods, a single terminal processes multiple forms of electronic payment.

Since convenience store and supermarket discount campaigns are often run for a limited time, it is best to check the chain's official app or announcements again before your visit to confirm whether a given campaign applies on your travel dates.
