Actual coupon amounts: the Kyungbokgung Duty Free case
At Kyungbokgung Duty Free's departure hall store in Incheon Airport Terminals 1 and 2, the cigarette coupon offers a 14,000 won discount when purchasing two cartons, limited to once per day per passport, not combinable with other discounts, and capped at a maximum overall discount rate of 20%. It's also specified that the won amount of the discount may vary depending on the exchange rate at the time of payment.
At other times, coupons offering 12,000 won off for two cartons and 21,000 won off for three cartons have also been confirmed. Buying three cartons increases the coupon discount, but the customs duty free limit remains just one carton regardless, meaning the second and third cartons remain subject to taxation without exception.

There is no "downtown duty free shop" inside Gimpo Airport
The notice on the operation of bonded sales stores distinguishes departure hall duty free shops, which sell inside airport or port bonded areas, from downtown duty free shops, which sell at locations outside those areas. Items purchased at downtown duty free shops or online duty free shops require time to be transferred to the pickup counter, so purchases can only be made up until a certain number of hours before departure.
Therefore, what travelers call a "Gimpo Airport downtown duty free shop" actually refers to buying in advance at a downtown duty free shop in central Seoul (such as Myeongdong) and simply picking up the items at the pickup counter in Gimpo Airport's departure hall. The cigarette sale itself follows the online and offline app prices of the downtown store without any change.

Gimpo Airport's liquor and tobacco zone belongs to Lotte Duty Free alone
The Korea Customs Service selected Lotte Duty Free as the new operator for the liquor and tobacco zone (DF2, approximately 222 pyeong) on the third floor of Gimpo Airport's international terminal, and Lotte will operate this zone from May 2024 through 2031. Lotte, having already won the earlier bid for the cosmetics and perfume zone (DF1), effectively makes Gimpo Airport's international duty free operation a Lotte only system.
While Incheon Airport is structured around coupon competition among five operators, Gimpo Airport has no competing operator at all. This is why the brand lineup and scope of promotions differ between the two airports.
