6 Seoul Hanok Stays With Easy to Use Private Bathrooms

If a usable private bathroom and toilet matter more to you than hanok atmosphere, Long Weekend Haus DDP is an option where all 7 room types across 12 rooms (101 to 702) include a private bathroom, sink, and toilet (reconfirmed on the official website, 2026-09-19). When judging bathroom usability at hanok stays in Seoul, three factors matter: whether each room has its own dedicated bathroom, whether it has a bathtub or shower, and whether the hot water and plumbing have been modernized.

At hanok stays in Bukchon and Jongno, bathroom specifications can vary significantly between buildings and rooms even within the same brand. Below, we organize private bathroom availability, type, and rates, with verification dates.

Butler Lee

Butler Lee operates around 25 hanok buildings across Seoul, mainly centered on Bukchon, and its official website states that each building has a private bathroom with its own bathtub. Its flagship building, Hagyeongdang by Butler Lee, has a private bathroom with a bathtub.

On the other hand, some buildings under the same brand, such as Onyuhon by Butler Lee, come with only a foot bath, so bathroom specifications need to be checked individually for each building.

Long Weekend Haus DDP

Long Weekend Haus DDP is not a hanok but a designer stay where all 7 room types across 12 rooms (101 to 702) include a private bathroom, sink, and toilet (reconfirmed on the official website, 2026-09-19). It is located at 15-3 Ssanglim dong, Jung gu, Seoul, in the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) area.

For travelers who prioritize modern plumbing and private facilities over hanok atmosphere, Long Weekend Haus DDP is worth considering. For groups who want separate bedrooms and bathrooms, room 702, a penthouse, sleeps 4 (up to 8), with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, making it less likely for two couples or a family to end up waiting their turn for the bathroom.

Check in is at 3pm and check out is at 11am. Since the property uses a self check in kiosk with no front desk staff, arriving late does not mean waiting for processing. Wi-Fi is free, all rooms are non-smoking, and pets are not allowed. Bookings of 3 nights or more receive a 10% discount on the official website, and free cancellation is available up to 14 days before check in (confirmed on the official website, 2026-09-19). According to Trip.com's aggregated rating, it scores 9.5 out of 10 (66 reviews, confirmed 2026-09-14). Rates by room type can be checked on the official Long Weekend Haus website.

Rakkojae Seoul

Rakkojae Seoul's main house, a long established hanok stay in Bukchon, provides each room with its own bathroom featuring a cypress (hinoki) bathtub. The official website explains that only the bathrooms have been modernized within the historic wooden structure.

The main house has a small configuration of only 3 rooms and 2 suites, and it tends to sell out weeks in advance during holidays and weekends.

NuileStay Seoul Premium Hanok

NuileStay Seoul Premium Hanok, within walking distance of Gyeongbokgung Station, is a whole building rental of a hanok built around a U shaped courtyard, and the booking site states that it has 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

Because this is a whole building rental, it can end up being relatively expensive per room for small groups or solo travelers.

Classic Gotaek Bukchon

Classic Gotaek Bukchon in Bukchon consists of two buildings, Heritage and Retreat, and the official tourism website states that the Heritage building alone has 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, and a large stone jacuzzi.

Since each of the two buildings has its own separate gate and wall, groups who want everyone to stay in the same building need to book the Heritage building, which has more rooms.

Hanok Hotel Daam

Hanok Hotel Daam, in the Jongno area, is a hotel style hanok with 89 rooms, and the official website states that each standard, deluxe, and luxury triple room has a private bathroom with a bathtub, shower, and bidet.

However, the female only shared rooms have shared bathrooms, so not every room has a private bathroom.

Sources and criteria

Written by the tripsight editorial team. The facility and rate information in this article was confirmed using the following primary sources (verification dates are listed for each item).

  • Registration standards for hanok experience businesses (한옥체험업) under the Enforcement Decree of the Tourism Promotion Act: the total floor area of guest rooms and amenity facilities used for the lodging experience must be under 230 square meters, amenity facilities such as bathrooms or showers must be provided, and bathrooms, shower facilities, and restrooms must be cleaned at least once a month (official Seoul city registration guidance, confirmed 2026-10-03).
  • The Best Seoul Stay certification program: operated by the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Tourism Organization. In 2025, 18 properties were selected from 63 applicants, and Rakkojae affiliated Bukchon Binkwan was included in the selection list (official Seoul city website, announced in 2025).
  • Michelin Key Collection: Bonum 1957 Hanok and Boutique (53 Bukchon ro, Jongno gu) is included in the Michelin Guide listings, and its rooms have private bathrooms with bathtubs. The official facility guide notes that, due to old plumbing, toilet paper should not be flushed and should instead be disposed of in the provided waste bin (official Michelin Guide hotel page, confirmed 2026-10-03).
  • Rakkojae Seoul main house: the official website states that the main house has 3 rooms and 2 suites, and explains that only the bathrooms have been modernized (confirmed 2026-10-03).
